Half day elopement in Sedona: Megan & DJ

Sedona is magic ❤️

Megan & DJ first reached out to us about eloping in Rocky Mountain NP, a classic Colorado elopement spot! But the more we got to know each other, the more we realized they were looking for something a bit more “out there” (they’re from Denver). We ended up joining them in Costa Rica for their engagement photos (a whole different story!!) and hatched a plan to explore Sedona for their elopement.

We met up mid-morning and rented side-by-sides for a morning rip around some local routes – something they had never done before but always wanted to try. Austin is an expert off-road driver and was able to get them doing donuts and kicking up dust in no time.

After a long break mid-day for lunch, much needed showers and naps for everyone, we met up again in the afternoon to hike out to one of Sedona’s most iconic spots: Cathedral Rock. The hike was mostly really easy going, but there were a few spots of climbing and scrambling that really made it feel like a true adventure – especially in wedding clothes! Cathedral Rock is a super popular area, but we were able to explore around and find a lot of private nooks. We opted to skip the famous cliffside photo spot – it just didn’t feel right to spend any of their time on their wedding day waiting in line for a photo.

We ended with a beautiful dusky first dance on a little private mesa. It was so sweet to end such a wildly fun and adventurous day with such a quiet and peaceful moment in the twilight.
