Just wanted a place to share some resources, answer some photo-related questions, maybe geek out some, and connect.
Q: What's the best way to reach you?
Email, definitely! Also, I love meeting up with folks and chatting over coffee, talking shop, sharing stories. Rising tides lift all boats!
Q: Who did your website?
That'd be me – I've been using various Squarespace templates for years. There's a learning curve but Squarespace made it doable, and their support is top-notch. There's tons of offer codes out there for discounted rates, fyi!
Q: What gear?
Nikon D750 (3)
35 f/1.8G (FX)
24-70 f/2.8 (non-VR)
70-200 f/2.8 VRII
I got by with a decent crop body for years, so if you're at the start of a career reading this thinking you need a full-frame body to do good work, let me assure you that you don't (though it certainly helps in some situations). I'm so in love with minimal kit that just works and I've always made the most of whatever kit I had.
I could go on and on and on about gear. Reach out with questions!
Looking for referrals?
I've frequently rented full-frame bodies and lenses from Lensrentals when shoots call for them. Their selection, condition of gear, and support are all top-notch – I've been using them for years. If you'd like to give them a shot, this link gives you $25 toward your first rental and gives us a little something when you do. It's like free shipping!
We recently jumped on the HoneyBook train and we couldn't be happier. Jess still can’t contain how much she loves it.
There's simply no way we could manage the insane number of shoots we pull off without it.
It streamlines everything, and it gives our brand a welcomed professional polish. You get a free trial period along with some great live support to get you started. If you love it after the trial (like we did), use this link to get 50% off your Honeybook subscription! We also get a little compensation when folks use our referral link, so it's win-win.
I start editing most of my photos using Mastin Labs' excellent new Portra Pushed Presets for Lightroom and tweaking from there to suit mood/light/photo. I find they give a look that's modern, rich, and not muddy.
We dig them, and bet you might too. Check them out for yourself! We get a little something if you purchase them after following that link, just fyi.
Like a lot of folks, Airbnb is our first choice for lodging whenever we travel (unless we're sleeping in our car on long roadtrips). Next time you use it, plug in our referral code to get $40 off your stay (which kicks $40 our way for our next trip)
